Welcome to Hooves & Feathers Farm

A unique farm experience for the whole family!

Hooves & Feathers is a family owned and operated working farm! We provide sanctuary to over 50 animals and would love for you to come and meet them. Agrotourism is an important part of today’s world, allowing children and adults alike get a hands-on genuine farm experience with very few barriers. That means you will be up close and personal with most of our animals which allows our visitors to see them behave naturally in their ordinary environments. To provide the best experience for our visitors we book 1 hour time slots for up to 8 families at a time. Weekends often sell our from May to September so you are encouraged to book in advance. We charge $15 per person which goes directly into feeding & caring for all  our animals, anyone who is 2 years old or younger is FREE! We also offer free admission for support workers who are accompanying someone who requires one!

Book A Visit

What to Expect

petting farm, feed animals in barrie, petting zoo, things to do with kids in barrie, family fun

Our petting farm experience is an experience like no other. You get to dive right into interacting with the animals as you will be greeted by our free range goats & sheep. The small herd roam freely in the barnyard enjoying naps in the sunshine, frolicking in the grass and eating unlimited hay. It is important to note that our goats have no manners and will jump and climb on you. Baby goats also love to chew on EVERYTHING, but they are so cute so they are easy to forgive! You will also find our laying hens, resident Goose “Ginger” & our small call ducks wandering around the barnyard looking for bugs and crumbs. You will be able to pet, brush and feed the goats, pigs and sometimes even the alpacas without barriers or fences between you! Grab a brush from the basket inside the barn and enjoy the animal therapy!

Please remember that you will be hands on, up close and personal with these animals. If you are not okay with being jumped on, pushed over, getting poop or dirt on you or if you are afraid of animals in general, this likely is not the experience for you. All our animals are kind and friendly but if you or your child intimidate, harass, chase or scare the animals they may retaliate and you or your child/ren may get injured. Please do not book this experience if you feel your children will be difficult to manage or if you feel they may not respect the animals. Our animals come first and anyone who is threatening or harmful to them or their environment will be asked to leave with no refund.

We often have many baby chicks or ducklings to gently hold and cuddle. These chicks are usually hatched through our Incubator Rental program in classes, homes & daycares across Simcoe County, giving children the opportunity to learn about the process. We hatch chickens well into summer to ensure a steady supply of farm fresh eggs for local families, as well as laying hens for families to enjoy at their own home. Chick hatching starts right around Easter and goes all summer long. Our incubator rentals are VERY popular so please ensure you book early if you wish to participate in the program!

Behind the fences surround the barnyard you will encounter big and small! We have two resident mini ponies who are unable to have your treats but will happily pose for photos and come to the fence for pets. Mini horses have an entirely different metabolism than horses, ask Farmer Christie more! We are also home to a handful of horses who’s owners have chosen to board them with us. Farmer Christie owns our two resident cows, mini donkey and our small pony (unicorn), Bubbles! They may be different sizes and species but the little mixed herd get along well!

We can't forget to highlight our sweet bottle lambs - Rosie & Mango. The sister pair were rescued from a meat farm as babies. They are very friendly and love a good scratch, Posie will be sure to check any bags or strollers you bring to the farm however she is picky on what she actually wishes to eat! Lois is our rescue lamb, she is dark brown and smaller than the other two. She is terrified of people and has not gotten any friendlier since being rescued! However she is safe here. She is also visually impaired which adds to her anxiety. You can look but cannot touch her!

We are home to three Holland Lop bunnies, Bindy, Clover & Mr. Humperton! Bindy & Clover leave in a pen put back and will happily come to the fence to eat your offerings of veggies. At this time we do not allow visitors in the pen or to hold the bunnies. If you ask Farmer Christie she may hold one of the bunnies and allow you to pet them and feel how soft their fur is! Mr. Humperton is our indoor bunny and LOVEs snuggles. He comes on all our field trips to birthday parties, day camps, schools & daycares. Send us an email if you want us to visit you!

Our baby goats usually arrive around Easter but sometimes we have kids due throughout the summer. For 2025 we were lucky enough to have two sets of quadruplets allowing our guests a chance to bottle feed them! If you are specifically looking to interact with baby goats it is best to send us a quick email using the form below to check if we have any!

Lastly our Alpacas! We acquired this trio of silky white farm giraffes in early 2025. We had been contacted by a fellow horse lover who was helping her neighbour rehome her alpacas due to a deteriorating barn. A baby, a mom & an auntie! We affectionately named them Reba, Jolene & Dolly to match their fierce personalities and great hair! We do allow the little girl gang loose while visitors are here when our visitor numbers are lower. Alpacas are naturally curious but timid, they don’t enjoy being pet but they love to investigate! Jolene will be the first to follow you around or inquisitively check was snacks you have to offer. Not far behind her will be Reba, the most timid and Dolly, the fluffiest! Reba is Dolly’s mom and she is the oldest of the three. So far they seem to enjoy apple slices and lettuce as their favourite treats!

What can I bring to feed the animals?

The horses may only eat carrots or apples, they have a sensitive stomach so we appreciate your cooperation with this! It is best to bring long carrots to avoid having any fingers accidentally bitten.

You may also bring apple slices, lettuce, celery, berries, cucumber, melon or melon rinds.

Please do not bring meat, bones, corn on the cob, seeds (black sunflower seeds are allowed) or bread.

Please do not feed the baby goats.

Please do not feed the animals or bring any food to feed them if you are not okay with accidentally being bitten, getting climbed on or jumped on.

Our Mission

Our History

Our History

At Hooves & Feathers, our mission is to provide a sanctuary style home for livestock and animals. We do not use any of our animals for consumption, breed for the purpose of consumption or sell for the purpose of consumption. All of our animals are family members to us and are treated with the utmost respect and love.

Our Team

Our History

Our Team

Our team at Hooves & Feathers is made up of Farmer Christie & Farmer John, high school sweethearts with two kids. Christie had her work cut out for her in converting John into an animal lover but if you ask him now he loves his cows!  John has his own construction company operating a motor grader and building roads, he operates the farm when Christie is working as a nurse in the community.
